Ein neuer Tag liefert eine weitere Band, die sich die Sinnfrage stellt. Im Gegensatz zu Thrice sind Thursday nach 13 Jahren aber am Lebensende angekommen. Zumindest in der jetzigen Daseinsform und für diesen Moment.
Bis zum 30.Dezember läuft die Tour der amerikanischen Rocker in der Heimat noch. Nach der Show in Philadelphia hängt man die Gitarren an die Wand. Ein kleines Schlupfloch lässt man sich aber doch. Vielleicht werde man die Band in etwas neues transformieren. Im Kopf hat man eine non-profit Band, die nur sporadisch Alben aufnimmt und gegenüber alternativen Projekten aufgeschlossen ist. Vielleicht sollen die Nebenprojekte ja für das Einkommen der Bandmitglieder sorgen. Und Thursday wird irgendwann als Hobby weitergeführt.
Per Facebook lassen die amerikanischen Rocker wissen:
Friends, Thursday will be playing our final shows, starting tomorrow night and ending with our tour in Australia. We would love to see you all one more time. So please, if we’re near your city, come out and have fun with us. It has been our pleasure and honor to make music for such wonderful people over the last thirteen years. In der angesprochenen, längeren Version geht Thursday zumindest oberflächlich auf den Grund für das Ende der Band in ihrer jetzigen Form ein. Man macht eine endlose Serie persönlicher Probleme und Umstände verantwortlich.
Despite the fantastic year that the band has enjoyed, creatively, things haven’t been as easy for us on a personal level. Without diving into detail, it’s fair to say that this year has been an endless series of personal difficulties. We haven’t had any falling out and are all still close. I’m sure that we will continue to create, in some capacity, together. We’ve talked about turning Thursday into something else: a non-profit, a band that only records sporadically, a collection of other projects… Underneath it all, the personal circumstances involved make it impossible to continue Thursday in the spirit that has made it special. So, we stop. For now, at least.
