Die 2009 angetretene Pause undefinierter Länge nimmt noch dieses Jahr ein jähes Ende. Trent Reznor kündigt heute das Live-Comeback des Bandprojekts Nine Inch Nails für diesen Sommer an. Angeblich führt der Weg von NIN im August auch nach Hockenheim.
“Nine Inch Nails touren dieses Jahr.” So lapidar leitet Reznor seine kurze Erklärung ein. Er habe mit ein paar musikalischen Ideen herumjongliert und sich dabei ertappt an Live-Performances zu denken. Viele Schritte später hätte man eine Show gebucht – auf die weitere folgten bis man schliesslich eine ganze Tour auf die Beine gestellt hatte.
Mit der Besetzung Reznor, Eric Avery von Jane’s Addiction, Adrian Belew von King Crimson und Josh Eustis von Telefon Tel Aviv, sowie den früheren Projektpartnern Alessandro Cortini und Ilan Rubin plant man ab Sommer zu touren. Mutmasslich steuert man in dieser Zeit Festivals an. Ein Indiz dafür: Geht es nach der Schwetzinger Zeitung, werden Nine Inch Nails morgen Teil einer ersten Bandwelle von Rock’N’Heim sein.
Im Herbst schliesslich will man eine US-Arena-Tour bestreiten mit der man 2014 dann auch weltweit auf Tournee geht.

Nine Inch Nails are touring this year.
I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show. Calls were made to some friends, lots of new ideas were discussed, and a show was booked – which led to another, which somehow led to a lot of shows.
The band is reinventing itself from scratch and will be comprised of Eric Avery, Adrian Belew, Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Ilan Rubin, and me. The first shows will begin this summer, followed by a full-on arena tour of the US this fall, and lots of other dates worldwide to follow through 2014.
